Unions provide no incentive to stand out above the crowd.

This goes on in a lot more places than you think and it has nothing to do with union workers.

This is another reason to buy American made.... non-union American made.
I was interested in a Jeep product, but one of my other choices is a Subaru. This nonsense that negatively effects quality would not happen at a Subaru plant. They would lose there jobs, period.
I heard a simular story happen several years ago where Chrysler employees who built Dodge Ram pickups would go out at lunch time to a liquor store, buy some booze and then drink in a park. They would then drive back to work... in there Ford F-150 pickup.

Unreal that they got their jobs back. Not too long ago, the train driver of the Calgary Light Rail Transit train was caught doing cross word puzzles by a newspaper photographer. He was fired. But the union got his job back for him. Now you know the problem with unions. There is no accountability. They continue to protect the workers based on how much union dues he/she has paid. So what if their behaviour could potential kill someone.

More proof that unions have long outlived their usefulness. Employees that drink or do drugs during (or before) their shift have always been subject to suspension and termination for the safety of the other workers, as well as the quality of the product they manufacture.

This reflects the lax attitude of the workers toward their jobs - as well as their own safety.

Funny how unions demonstrate daily how they are the champions of the incompetent, lazy, mediocre and criminal elements in our work force.

Of course. After all, their union was looking after them. Next time they'll be sure to not get caught.

Every work place has a loser somewhere in it, doesn't matter where you work and upper management is usually the worst offenders. Just go to a local bar that serves decent food at lunch and watch them throw back a few and then get back in the car and DRIVE back to the office. No where in the article did I read that these people got their jobs back or was unpunished for their stupidity. Too many haters in this world who spend more time judging people than looking at the facts.

This problem is by no means limited to autoworkers or union workers. Oh yes, and didn't our government even make this some kind of illness which protects these people?

Unreal.
And the scum probably got a raise and a pat on the back.
After all, the agony, pain, stress and suffering the employees had to go through to try and actually follow laws and rules and produce a product in return for their wages.

It's to bad this happens at many places, not just at Chrysler. The American worker has to take more pride in their job.

EO Lived dream; No one wants to get rid of union workers, just the UNIONS,and their overpaid bosses.and the obscene pension funds, and the paid lay offs where they get 95 % of pay for doing nothing. The consumers pay for that when they buy vehicles. There was never a hard working union member who got the money back they lost by going on strike.HOPE RIGHT TO WORK BILL PASSES ALL OVER THE UNITED STATES.

Behavior that was acceptable 2 decades ago is now prohibited, both smoking and drinking in any proximity to work. Not that either way is right, just a change in perception.

By comparison, is every single corporate CEO a Bernie Madoff?? Should every single Executive in the U.S. be fired for the actions of a corrupt few???
And yet you are chomping at the bit to fire and get rid all union members, hard working and all -- just because of the idiotic actions of a few reckless workers. That kind of "let's lynch them ALL" mentality is quite disturbing.
The actions of a few do NOT necessarily represent the whole. Get a grip, people!
Instead of posting gas price articles, THIS article was meant to instigate hatred and bias against unions. Looks like it mostly worked. Sad.
